WP Assist and Yoast SEO for WordPress
WP Assist has native support for Yoast SEO — one of the most popular WordPress SEO plugins. When you connect a WordPress site that has Yoast SEO installed, WP Assist automatically detects it and can read and update all key Yoast fields through the AI chat. No extra configuration is needed.
What WP Assist can do with Yoast SEO
- Read SEO scores — WP Assist can tell you your Yoast SEO score (red/orange/green) for any page or post.
- Read and update focus keywords — check what focus keyword is set or update it to a new one.
- Write and update meta descriptions — generate an optimised meta description and save it to the Yoast meta description field.
- Read the SEO title — see what your SEO title (the title shown in search results) is currently set to.
How detection works
WP Assist checks whether Yoast SEO (or Yoast SEO Premium) is active on your WordPress site when it connects. You don't need to tell it which plugin you're using — it figures it out automatically. If you have both Yoast and Rank Math installed (though this isn't recommended), WP Assist will let you know.
Works with both free and premium: WP Assist works with both the free version of Yoast SEO and Yoast SEO Premium. All core SEO fields — focus keyword, meta description, SEO score — are available in either version.
Example: auditing a page with Yoast SEO
With Yoast SEO installed, ask WP Assist: "Check the SEO on my about page." WP Assist will return your Yoast SEO score (e.g. "Orange — 3 issues found"), list what's missing, and offer to fix the issues directly.
